EcoVisio, closer to doctors in the fight against COVID-19

Out of the desire to support those who fight the pandemic daily, the EcoVisio public association donated several materials to the hospitals in Balti and Căușeni, the first medical institutions in the districts that took in patients infected with COVID-19.

At the moment, a total of 130 patients diagnosed with or with symptoms of infection with COVID-19 are hospitalized in the two hospitals. At the same time, 30% of the medical staff of Căușeni hospital was infected with the new coronavirus, while in Bălți, 18 medical workers were tested positive.

"Ever since the beginning of the pandemic, I have been watching more and more doctors fall ill. Thus we decided that although we are an organization for sustainable development, we must get involved and contribute medical equipment to protect hospital employees. Only if the medical staff is protected can we all be in safety", says Margareta Cartiră, the initiator of the action on behalf of EcoVisio.

This month, the association sent the two units ecological disinfectants and protective equipment for medical personnel. Added to these were bags for common and infectious waste, large and small dumpsters, all required by hospitals to manage the increased amount of waste.

During this period, a large number of infected waste is collected, and because of this we need several special bags, which are quite expensive. Also, according to medical waste regulations, each infected patient must have their own waste bin to dispose of", declared Ion Arsenie Ciobanu, doctor and communication specialist at the "Ana și Alexandru" District Hospital, Căușeni.

After the end of the quarantine period, EcoVisio will return to the Căuşeni hospital with a training on the management of different types of waste, as well as ways to save resources. Following this pilot training in Căuşeni, the action could be continued at several medical institutions in the country.

The EcoVisio initiative to support hospitals was made possible with the support of Sweden. More campaigns and ideas on the association's page
