Today, in the context of EUGreenWeek2020 (European Green Week 2020 in the Republic of Moldova), which takes place between October 19-23, 2020, AO Association for Waste Recovery together with ABS Recycling officially joined the launch of the campaign for the selective collection of recyclable waste within the Ministry of Agriculture , Regional Development and Environment (MADRM) and the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and European Integration. The aim of this campaign is to educate responsible behavior in relation to the waste generated among employees working in these ministries, promoting the principle of green offices and meetings but also, of course, motivating citizens to collect and hand over the waste correctly for recycling, sending the message - A new beginning for people and nature!
In this regard, four dumpsters were placed in the MADRM hallway for the separate collection and recycling of paper, plastic, glass and electrical and electronic equipment waste, and employees were urged to collect office waste separately. For the good organization of the campaign, an internal Order was also developed, which provides for the prevention, separate collection and handing over for recycling of paper, plastic, glass and electrical and electronic equipment waste. At the same time, the ministry's collaborators will be trained and will use these dumpsters for the separate pre-collection of recyclable waste. These activities aim to launch and promote the phased implementation of an environmental management system within the central public authorities and to achieve the provision of the European Green Pact, which includes the Circular Economy Action Plan and to promote the widespread application of waste recycling on a national scale.
"Special dumpsters will be used for the separate pre-collection of recyclable waste from the office. Thus, we urge both colleagues and all those who will come to the ministry to manifest - a new beginning for people and nature! The action aims to launch and promote the implementation of an effective environmental management system within the central public authorities and to promote the principles of green offices". stated the Secretary of State, Maxim Popov.
At the same time, the official proposed that this exemplary action be taken over and carried out within central and local public authorities, buildings, private companies, public associations, in order to increase the efficiency of waste recovery, increase the level of information and awareness of officials and the general public in this meaning, as well as for promoting the circular economy and reducing the impact on the environment.
The dumpster for the collection of WEEE is offered by the AO Association for Waste Recovery, as part of the "Clean city with recycled e-Waste" project implemented with the support Gef SGP Moldova small grants program, UNDP and in partnership with MoldRec.
Note: The actions of separate collection and handing over for recycling of waste come in fulfillment of the provisions of the Law on waste no. 209/2016, the Waste Management Strategy in the Republic of Moldova for the years 2013-2027, as well as the European Green Pact, which includes the Circular Economy Action Plan and in order to promote the widespread application of waste recycling on a national scale.
