A new quarter and a new issue of Waste Management Magazine, which traditionally provides access to a wide range of useful data and information. Through the more than 20 articles and 40 pages we tell you about the economic and environmental benefits resulting from waste recycling, good waste reuse practices, the waste problem in the textile sector and last but not least the contribution of an Integrated Waste Management System to achieve Sustainable development goals.

Traditionally, we continue to provide various information about the applicability of the REP mechanism in the Republic of Moldova, how financial flows can be managed and how much understanding and transparency of this process matters. With this edition we have also reintroduced the "External News" column, because we want an aware and informed community.

The provisions of this Regulation are subject to all packaging placed on the market, regardless of the material from which they were made, whether they are used, whether they come from industry, offices, shops, services, from households, or from any other activities, as well as all packaging waste, regardless of the way of generation.

How can financial flows be managed under REP schemes?

The financial contribution from packaging manufacturers/importers is one way of implementing the principle "polluter pays", respectively the internalization of packaging waste management costs within the product price.

The subtle disadvantages of bottled water!

A study conducted by University of Florida demonstrated that if a plastic water bottle is exposed for a long time to high temperatures, the packaging can leach Bisphenol A and antimony (Stibium) into the water, which cause cardiovascular problems and increase the risk of cancer.
