AO "E-Circular Training and Consulting Center" in the context of activities organized globally on the occasion "Plastic Free July 2023", invites public and private institutions from the Republic of Moldova to join the Campaign national "I support MOLDOVA, I refuse PLASTIC, I am EUROPE", performance period July 1 - 31, 2023.

In 2023, the first was published  National reference study on plastic waste in the Republic of Moldova. The data of the study confirmed that recycling is not the only and not by far the most effective solution in the fight against plastic waste at the national level, taking into account the fact that at most 3 % of plastic waste ends up being recycled. It is important to identify new solutions, based directly on the principles of the Waste Hierarchy with an emphasis on Prevention, Reduction and Reuse, which is not for nothing the cornerstone of EU and national waste policy and legislation.

In this context, the objective of the campaign is to reduce plastic waste pollution by refusing various single-use plastic packaging/products used in official meetings and gatherings, but also in the current activity, thus reducing both the media and the use of plastic. Through this campaign we align ourselves with the call to a proactive society launched by the Government, to protect and discourage any attempt to pollute the environment.

The aim of the initiative is to achieve a chain effect by raising the awareness of the administrative sector and increasing the responsibility of economic agents who must assume the obligation for the compliant management of waste resulting from products placed on the market.

The actions we propose do not have ZERO PLASTIC as their goal. The aim is to reduce the amount of plastic waste generated and promote improved life cycle management of plastics to achieve a more circular plastics economy.

Institutions interested in actively participating are invited to complete this Online form. Each of the participating institutions will receive access to informational resources and guidance in order to promote the campaign.

The proposed activities are part of the project "Plastic Waste in the Circular Economy: Community Solutions", implemented by AO Verde e Moldova in partnership with AO E-Circular, with the financial support of the Small Grants Program GEF SGP Moldova and UNDP.
