The training "Circular Economy in the Textile and Apparel Industry (T&A)" is designed for companies in the textile and apparel industry, young entrepreneurs, as well as managers and designers who aim to implement sustainable and circular practices. It is ideal for those who want to understand how to reduce the environmental impact of their business, improve social responsibility, and enhance competitiveness in the market.
The textile and apparel industry is the 3rd largest source of greenhouse gas emissions and the 2nd most polluting sector. Globally, there are over 100 million tons of textile waste generated annually., of which only 10-12 % are recycled and only 1% is transformed into new textile products. In the Republic of Moldova, textile waste most often ends up in landfills, posing significant challenges for manufacturers.
The issue of waste can be addressed differently by exploring circular principles and circular design models. Participants in the course will learn how manufacturers can begin this transformation, explore business models and circular design, manage pre- and post-consumer waste, and, most importantly, prevent or reduce waste generation. Additionally, they will discover how to develop new services and create new revenue streams with maximum competitiveness in both the national and European markets, along with many other topics of interest.
